ALI HUSSAIN

B.A., J.D.

Ali obtained his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego in 1999. In 2001, he was admitted to the State Bar of California. Ali began his practice of law with a national insurance company practicing insurance defence litigation. Ali continued his practice of law with a Los Angeles law firm representing several municipal governmental agencies. Ali has had a number of accomplishments throughout his legal career, but his proudest is conducting a three-week jury trial and obtaining a multi-million-dollar judgment on behalf of a publicly traded client.

In 2002 Ali returned to Toronto, and was called to the Ontario Bar. He began his private practice in civil litigation and complex business transactions, practicing in association with Mand Rai LLP. Over the years Ali continued to expand his practice areas into International Law, Probate Law and representing not-for-profit organizations and charitable organizations.

In 2012, Ali began another journey that took him to Iraq where he became a consultant to several Canadian oil companies conducting business in Iraq. Over the next 7 years Ali obtained critical experience in the complex regulatory regime of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil and its 25 State owned subsidiary companies. His time in Iraq allowed him to build extensive relationships with many of the decision makers in the government of Iraq across all party lines.

In 2019, Ali returned to the practice of law with Mand Rai LLP, and continues to practice complex civil litigation, international law and continues to represent Canadian oil companies and other companies conducting business in Iraq. Ali is fluent in the Arabic language.
